Campaign Migration


Campaign Migration allows you to migrate your campaigns across your MoEngage apps. It is more useful if you want to duplicate your best performing campaign (including segments, campaign message and delivery options) from one account to the other. 

Prerequisites

  • Campaign Approval Flow (read here for details) should be enabled for your app.

  • The user importing a campaign should be a part of both the apps- source and destination.

  • Only Admins and Managers can import campaigns

  • Only Smart Trigger Emails and SMS can be imported.

Steps to import campaigns   

1. Navigate to All Campaigns Page. 

2. Click on the Import Campaigns in the navigation bar.

3. You have two options here -

a) Import campaign: You can import a campaign from the source app as a new campaign in the destination. 

b) Update a Campaign: You can update an existing campaign with a campaign from the source app.

 

Import a new campaign

To import as a new campaign follow these steps-

  1. Select Migration Type as Import campaign.
  2. In the Select source environment option, select the source environment i.e. the environment (Test or Live)in the source app from which you want to import the campaign.
  3. In the Select source app drop-down, select the source app i.e. the app from which you want to import the campaign.
  4. Click Fetch Campaigns and select the campaigns that you wish to import. You can use filters or search for specific campaigns.
  5. If you are using teams, select the destination team i.e. the team in which you want to import your campaigns.
  6. Click Import Campaigns.

Note-

1. The new campaigns will be created with pre-fix 'imported' For example, if the source campaign is named campaign A, then the new campaign will be named as imported_campaign A.

2. The new campaigns will be under review state. A manager/admin needs to approve the campaign to publish it. Read more about the Campaign Approval Flow here.  

 

Update a campaign

To update an existing campaign with campaign details of another campaign, follow these steps-

  1. Select Migration Type as Update a campaign.
  2. In the Select source environment option, select the source environment i.e. the environment (Test or Live)in the source app from which you want to import the campaign.
  3. In the Select source app drop-down, select the source app i.e. the app from which you want to import the campaign.
  4. Click Fetch Campaigns and select the campaign that you wish to import. You can use filters or search for a specific campaign.
  5. Once you have finalised the campaign to be imported, click on 'Use Selected Campaign'.
  6. Now, select the campaign that you wish to update. You can use filters or search for a specific campaign.
  7. If you are using teams, select the destination team i.e. the team in which you want to import your campaigns.
  8. Click Update Campaign.

Note-

1. If the campaign being updated has not been published, the entire campaign including target audience, campaign message and delivery options will be updated.

2. If the campaign being updated is already published, only the campaign message will be updated.

3. The updates will be under review state. A manager/admin needs to approve the campaign to publish it. Read more about the Campaign Approval Flow here.  

 

 Default Import Behaviour 

The following describes the default behaviour for the specific entities while importing a campaign -  

Entities Default Import behaviour
Events: Event attributes (conversion goals, revenue attributes)and User attributes (Trigger events attributes, mobile attribute, email attribute, personalisation attributes, etc) If the user-event or a user-attribute does not exist, MoEngage will create new events and attributes.
Email Template If a template does not exist, MoEngage will create a new template and autofill the imported content.
Connector type The imported campaign will be sent via the default connector configured in the destination app.
Channel Settings The settings for the imported campaign will be the same as that of the destination app.


Note- The nested segments are not supported in campaign migration.
