Do Not Disturb for Smart Trigger SMS

A Smart Trigger SMS or Connector campaign is sent when a user does (or does not do) a defined action in a defined time (for ex. "Added a product to cart" but "Not Purchased" in 2 hours). It is possible that some of these SMS or Connector notifications are triggered at odd hours (for ex. if user added a product at 10 pm, the corresponding message will be sent at midnight). DND feature allows you to configure idle hours during which your customers should not receive smart trigger SMS/ Connector notifications.

Setup DND

You can setup Do Not Disturb (DND) time interval in the following steps:

Step 1: Go to SMS & Connector settings or browse on MoEngage Dashboard -> Settings (sidebar) -> SMS & Connector Settings 


Step 2: Here, switch ON the DND toggle button and enter the time-interval for which you wish to not send the triggered SMS/Connector notifications. 

Please note that the DND time intervals are applicable for end user based on their respective time zone (fetched from device). In case, device timezone data is not available DND will be applicable as per app timezone. You can find the app timezone from Settings (sidebar) ->App Settings (under Account Settings). In a rare case, where App timezone is not available as well, DND will be applicable as per GMT. 


In case you wish to deliver these push notifications after the DND period is over - switch ON the "Save & Send" toggle button. You can also mention the time interval in which multiple notification (delayed due to DND) should be sent or staggered. 

Save & Send 


In case you have set up multiple campaigns (Push, SMS etc.) & expect multiple notifications to be delivered to the user after DND period is over, you can use Stagger messages.  Let's say, you configured an ST Push, ST SMS & ST Connector campaign. Each of these messages were supposed to be delivered after DND. Now, instead of receiving all these messages in one go, the user will receive the 3 messages in an interval of 15 minutes (or whatever stagger time you would have configured). Same logic applies if there are 2 or more ST SMS (or 2 or more ST Connectors) that are supposed to get delivered during DND hours. 

Note: If you switch ON Stagger here, it will also get activated for other Smart Trigger campaigns such as ST Push. This will ensure that user doesn't get bombarded with hoards of messages as soon as DND is over.

Click on "Save" and be assured that you will not send any message to the user at odd hours.
